Remember to shop local this Christmas season

Tuesday, November 29, 2022 - As we shift from Thanksgiving to the Christmas season it's time to make those holiday shopping lists. Everyone wants to find the perfect gift for their friends and family and those gifts can be found by shopping local.

There are both financial and community reasons for shopping local.

Every dollar spent locally rolls over and eventually has a $5 impact in our local economy. Statistics show that small business owners put three times the amount of their sales back into their local communities where they live and work. That number increases to 50% when compared to online companies.

Local stores hire local people who then spend their money shopping locally.

The men and women who own and operate local businesses are your neighbors and the ones that support the community you live in. They are the ones who donate to local projects, youth league teams, fundraisers for community members in need and local improvement projects.

So, when you make your Christmas shopping list, be sure to consider adding items from local businesses.

Sequoyah County towns are full of unique clothing and accessory boutiques, flower shops, hardware and lumber stores, restaurants, automotive stores and just about anything else a shopper could desire. Visit these businesses this holiday season and support your neighbors, friends and your community.
