QuikTrip joins the list of new businesses coming to Sallisaw on Kerr Blvd.

Updated: Dec 18, 2023

Work has already started at the location of the new QuickTrip coming to Sallisaw.

Thursday, December 14, 2023 - If you've recently traveled along Kerr Blvd. in Sallisaw, you've seen that there are several big projects in the works. Dirt work and a new through street from Kerr to No Name are some of the changes you can already see as construction projects move forward on six new businesses.

Sallisaw Economic Director George Bormann confirmed on Thursday that QuikTrip has closed a land purchase just southwest of the Interstate 40 interchange at the site of the former Stuckey's/Sallisaw Travel Center and Olde Feed Barn. Dirt work is already beginning and the project is expected to be completed during 2024.

"The QuickTrip deal has been three years in the making," Bormann said. "It's good to see it come to fruition."

Another confirmed business along Kerr Blvd. is Local Bank which has a temporary building in place with construction of a permanent facility expected to begin soon.

Three un-named businesses and one medical facility are in the works to be added along Kerr Blvd. as well.

With the completion of the new Veterans Center expected in 2024, the boulevard is experiencing quite a growth spurt.

Addition of the new businesses, including the VA Center, is expected to generate approximately 350 new jobs. This will drop the area's already low unemployment rate even lower and also bring additonal revenue and tax dollars to the area.

"This is an exciting time for Sallisaw," Bormann added.

With last year being a record year for city sales tax revenue, Sallisaw is poised for continued economic growth.
