Friday, December 3, 2021 - East Side Free Will Baptist Church, located at 613 E. Sequoyah St. in Muldrow will be hosting their annual "Tour of Christmas" on December 4 and 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 each night.
The event is free to the public and everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the show.
Tracy Ryan, coordinator of the tour, said this is the eleventh year for the event, which takes place on twenty-five acres and features live animals, actors of all ages, a hayride and hot cocoa.
There are ten scenes highlighted throughout the tour that represent the story of Jesus. The scenes include the city of Bethlehem, shepherds in the field, the nativity, Herod's Castle, (where the wise men were summoned to find the new king), the calling of the disciples, the woman at the well, the garden of Gethsemane, the Cross at Calvary, and finally, the empty tomb.
"The men, women, and children of the church really pull together to make such a huge event flow so well. The church has roughly 150 members, and this event takes around 115 of those members to complete. This year, the oldest member of our crew is 81, and the youngest who will be playing Baby Jesus is only two months old," Ryan stated.
"The scenes are beautiful, the actors are sincere, and we do all we can to make the experience as realistic as possible," Ryan said. "To us, it’s not Christmas until we do the tour. We see this annual event as being the word of peace and love for our entire community."
