Monday, May 29, 2023 - More than 20 years ago, the devastating collapse of the I-40 Webbers Falls bridge took the lives of 14 people after a barge struck the bridge as it was passing underneath. The memory of those 14 innocent lives and their families will be honored on Monday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m.
The memorial will be held at the Webbers Falls Park located by the Bridge Memorial. You can't miss this beautiful structure. Standing at 14’ high, the statue depicts a 3-year old child, the youngest to pass in the tragedy, as she releases a bird into the sky while she stands on the debris of the destroyed bridge.
Area veterans will also be honored during the memorial service.
