Wednesday, November 24, 2021 - Candidates for the Board of Education in twelve Sequoyah County schools districts, as well as for two Sallisaw municipal positions will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning 8 a.m. Monday, December 6.
Cindy Osborn, Secretary of the Sequoyah County Election Board, said Declaration of Candidacy forms must be completed and submitted to the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 8 when the filing period ends. Osborn reminds voters that Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than Friday, December 10 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office.
If more than two candidates file for the same vacant Board of Education position, a Primary Election will be held Tuesday, February, 8. If one candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, that candidate will be named the elected official. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will vie for the vacant position during the Board of Education General Election, April 5, 2022.
If only two candidates file for the same vacant Board of Education position, those two candidates’ names will appear on the General Election ballot in April.

BRUSHY C-36 School District Office No. #2 (3yr)
CENTRAL I-7 School District Office No. #2 (5yr)
GANS I-4 School District Office No. #2 (5yr)
GORE I-6 School District Office No. #2 (5yr)
LIBERTY C-1 School District Office No. #2 (3yr)
MARBLE CITY C-35 School District Office No. #3 (3yr)
MOFFETT C-68 School District Office No. #2 (3yr)
MULDROW I-3 School District Office No. #2 (5yr)
ROLAND I-5 School District Office No. #2 (5yr)
SALLISAW I-1 School District Office No. #2 (5yr)
VIAN I-2 School District Office No. #2 (5y)
BRAGGS I-46 School District Office No. #2 (5yr)

Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or by contacting your County Election Board office at 918-775-2614 or Sequoyahcounty@elections.ok.gov.
The Sequoyah County Election Board is located at 110 E Creek Ave and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
