Tuesday, February 6, 2024 - The 59th annual Sequoyah County Junior Livestock Show is set to take place February 14-16 at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds in Sallisaw.
All animals will undergo sifting and weighing between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on the day of the show.
Wednesday, February 14, marks the commencement of the show with check-in for sheep, goats, and cattle from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
At noon, the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly membership meeting. The chamber will feature area FFA students as keynote speakers, providing them with a platform to showcase their public speaking skills.
The evening livestock program starts at 5 p.m. and includes exhibitions for doe goats, wethers, lambs, heifers, and steers, with sale orders and Showmanship following each category.
On Thursday, February 15, check-in for swine will be held from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. At 10 a.m., a 4-H "Dress to Impress" contest, open to all county school 4-H students, is scheduled.
That evening, beginning at 5 p.m., it’s showtime for breeding gilt Jackpot and market barrows, with a barrow sale order and swine showmanship following each category.
On Friday, February 16, the bidder's BBQ kicks off at 6 p.m., followed directly by the Premium auction at 7 p.m. with this year's auctioneer, Tommy Wright.
