Warrants issued for two Muldrow men

Wednesday, June 7, 2023 - Felony arrest warrants were issued May 30 for two Muldrow men who each face five felony charges.

Orval Hamilton, 26, and Gabriel Mann, 27, were charged with first-degree burglary, punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in the State Penitentiary; grand larceny, which is punishable by a two-year stint in the penitentiary and a fine not to exceed $1,000. Other felony counts include conspiracy, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $5,000, and malicious injury to property over $1,000, which has a penalty of two years in the penitentiary.

On May 16, a deputy with the Sequoyah County sheriff’s department was dispatched in reference to an assault.

When the deputy arrived, he spoke with Zera Paterson, who stated that on May 15, his neighbor, later identified as Hamilton, came to his residence, telling him to come outside and fight him. Patterson stated that he told Hamilton no and that his daughter was in the residence with him. Hamilton then reportedly broke the window, telling Patterson to come outside. The witness said Hamilton left the scene and returned to the property with Mann.

Hamilton and Mann reportedly entered the back of the house, but not before Hamilton picked up an axe that was sitting next to the back door. He then began to hit the wall to the left of the bedroom door and the bedroom door itself. Patterson said he tried to keep the door shut but Hamilton kept getting it open. He was able to reach a guitar and broke it.

Patterson said Mann told Patterson’s daughter to leave the residence as Hamilton was still trying to get in the room. Hamilton told Mann to come outside and they wouldn’t hurt him. Patterson stated that he wanted them to stop, so he went outside, but they also said they would go get a gun and just shoot him if he didn’t want to come out. Patterson noted that he wanted them to stop so he went outside, and when he got outside the men told him to get on his knees, then Mann told Patterson to lay face-down.

Patterson told them he wasn’t going to do that, and Mann hit Patterson on the right side of his face with a closed fist and pushed his face to the ground while Hamilton hit Patterson with an aluminum bat.

Eventually the suspects left the scene, but not before they took Patterson’s tools, court records show.
