Sallisaw's library gets new sign

Monday, August 31, 2021 - Visitors to Stanley W. Tubbs Memorial Library in Sallisaw will see a brand-new sign welcoming them to the facility. Crews installed the top-of-the-line digital sign Aug. 25.

The Friends of the Library raised funds for nearly three years to purchase the $22,000 sign, group president Carrol Copeland said Monday. The Friends held three garage sales that netted about $1,000 each, he said, and a fundraiser at Mazzio's Pizza and a donation jar at Maria's Restaurant also helped bring in needed cash. Copeland said the countless donations from local people and businesses were instrumental in bringing the project to fruition.

The 4' x 8' sign was installed by crews from Harrison Signs and R. and O. Signs, Copeland said. He said the resolution on the sign is so good it will be possible to use it for movie nights on the library lawn.

Copeland said it “feels good” to see his pet project completed. He thanked all who donated and said he hopes the public enjoys the sign as much as he does.
