Sunday, May 29, 2022 - Reports indicate that there have been possibly up to four fatalities as a result of a multi-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred on Interstate 40 westbound on the bridge between the two Muldrow exits just after 3 p.m. Witnesses have reported seeing a tractor-trailer, an SUV and at least one other vehicle involved in the crash. Wide spread debris was covering the roadway, shoulder and bridge embankments immediately following the accident.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, fire departments and Life Flight responded to the scene. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is also on site and believed to be examining possible damage to the bridge.
Traffic continues to be diverted at Mile Marker 321 exit ramp at Muldrow then back on at the 321 Mile Marker on ramp as the collision is between the two ramps. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) is still working to clear the scene of the accident and reopen the westbound lane.
The OHP has not released any official information regarding this accident at the time. Neither the number of victims nor their names have been confirmed. We will bring you more information as it is officially released.
