Thursday, January 12, 2023 - Circuit engineer for the Eastern Oklahoma Circuit Engineering District, Monty Proctor, updated county commissioners on construction plans for the Indian Road project at the weekly county commissioners meeting on Monday.
"The plan is to replace the southernmost culvert on Indian Road with a 10-foot-diameter steel pipe culvert that will include concrete end treatments. A new guardrail will also be installed along the east side of the culvert, with the site plan location being named "Site D." Proctor stated.
Commissioners unanimously approved to go out for bid on Indian Road Site D for a road culvert, approved the Indian Road Site D plan, and approved to sign the cover sheet for Indian Road Site D plans.
County commissioner for District #2, Beau Burlison, explained that the project bids have been opened and awarded.
"The project will begin in mid-February with an estimated completion date of October 2023. The Cherokee nation has two sides, which they are going to take care of with our councilman assisting with Site D," Burlison said. "We are more than grateful to the Cherokee Nation and extremely fortunate to have these guys on our side."
