Gore police bust nets 9.5 lbs of medical marijuana

Gore Police Officer Octavious Holtz with almost 10 pounds of confiscated marijuana.

Wednesday, September 8, 2021 - A routine traffic stop Friday resulted in more than a traffic ticket for the driver.

Gore Police Officer Octavious Holtz discovered 9 1/2 pounds of medical marijuana when he pulled over a driver going 20 mph under the speed limit.

The street value of the marijuana was estimated to be between two and three-thousand dollars.

Charges are pending for the driver who was not from this area. He reportedly stated that he was "headed to the lake to hang out for a few days."

Gore Police Chief Chris Goforth said Wednesday that Holtz "did a really good job."

“He's becoming a very fine officer,” Chief Goforth said.

Officer Holtz, a Sallisaw native, has been with the Gore Police Department for approximately four months. He spent three months as a reserve and has been full-time for the past month.
