Wednesday, September 8, 2021 - Stanley W. Tubbs Memorial Library is the place to go this Saturday for a FUR-tastic fun time.
Forever Friends Humane Society, sponsored by the Cherokee Nation, PAAS and OK Humane, will be at the library, 101 E. Cherokee Ave., from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 11 for a vaccination drive. The group will be offering 250 free rabies vaccines, as well as $10 microchips and de-worming and flea and tick preventative treatment for a low price.
Bring your dogs and cats to the library, but make sure dogs are on a leash and cats are in a carrier for safety reasons.
Tina Holman, president of Forever Friends, says she hopes this vaccination effort becomes an annual event that will help ensure the health of as many Sequoyah County pets as possible.
Other fun activities at FUR-tastic include a chance to let your pet create his or her own artwork for $5. Door prizes will be handed out every 15 minutes, and there will be a raffle for a larger item. There will also be a tent store featuring lots of craft tables selling unique animal items. Cold drinks will be available for 50 cents each.
