Ethan Miles Branham
Monday, May 16, 2022 - A Sallisaw man was arrested May 8 and charged with drug trafficking and four other felonies, court records show.
Ethan Miles Branham, 29, also faces counts of unlawful possession of a controlled drug with the intent to distribute, acquiring proceeds from drug activity, possession of a firearm after former felony conviction and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on May 8, a Sequoyah County sheriff’s deputy responded to a call regarding a suspicious truck at a man's residence.
The man told the deputy that another man had come to his home that morning and asked if he could work on his truck in his yard. He said he told the man no and the man left in the truck.
The deputy drove through the area, where he found a white truck parked just down from the reporting man's home. As the deputy approached the truck, he saw a man getting something out of the truck. The man told the deputy his friend lived at the address, but when asked what the friend’s name was, the man had no response. The man’s identification indicated he was Ethan Branham.
Branham, who had a warrant out of LeFlore County, was then arrested.
When the deputy looked inside the truck, he noticed a black backpack in the driver’s seat with a syringe containing a clear liquid sticking out of one of the pack’s pockets, as well as a bottle containing 86 ½ blue pills.
When the deputy opened the backpack, he found a handgun and $19,400 in cash. A check with dispatch revealed that the gun had been reported stolen.
