Back-to-School Bash set to provide free haircuts and much more

Monday, August 7, 2023 - The 3rd annual Back to School Bash is set to take place on Sunday, August 13, at the Sallisaw Middle School Gym from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The fun-filled event offers students of all ages a range of back-to-school resources and services without the hefty fees.

Participants can expect a variety of free services, including haircuts, hygiene bags, manicures, entertainment, and food. A clothing giveaway will also take place, providing new or gently used clothing items for students of all sizes.

In addition, Cherokee Nation has partnered with organizers to provide groceries for each family attending this year's Back to School Bash.

To ensure the ongoing success of the event, organizers are seeking donations of new or used shoes and clothing items in all sizes, ranging from pre-k to high school. All items need to be free of stains, rips, and tears. No used underwear will be accepted.

Donations can be dropped off at Selah Suites in Sallisaw, Tuesday–Friday between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Selah Suites is conveniently situated at 205 N. Elm St. in Sallisaw.

The Back to School Bash is made possible through donations, countless volunteer hours, and unwavering support from individuals and businesses within the community.

Families are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity that was designed to alleviate some of the back-to-school pressures while fostering a sense of unity and community support.

The Sallisaw Middle School Gym is located at 2301 W. Ruth Ave., Sallisaw.
