Friday, July 16, 2021 - With the new school year just around the corner, community partners are asking for Sequoyah County residents' help gathering school supplies.
Organizers are seeking donations of school supplies for students in Pre-K through 12th grades and the goal is to hand out 600 free backpacks filled with those supplies, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Because the annual Stuff the Bus event, usually held in the last week of July, has been postponed this year, the need to pitch in and help Sequoyah County students out is even greater than ever.
For more information on how to donate or to have someone pick up your school supply donations, contact Melissa Lowe at (918) 776-0848 or Lindsie Dyer at (918) 775-7787, extension 2411.
In addition, there will be a drop box located in the lobby of The Mix 105.1, 333 S. Kerr Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday until Aug. 7.
The Sallisaw Pastors Alliance is also collecting school supplies. Contact a member of the alliance or your local church to find out what is needed and where you can drop off your donations.
